My unique background as an ESL English teacher in Japan and Korea has been a cornerstone in shaping my perspective as a designer.
In the world of ESL teaching, adaptability is key. I navigated classrooms filled with students of diverse learning styles, proficiencies, and cultural backgrounds. This experience honed my ability to customize lesson content, making complex subjects accessible and engaging to each learner.
Transitioning these skills to UX Design, I’ve applied the same principles: adaptability and a focus on the ‘user’, analogous to the ‘student’ in my teaching days. In UX, the challenge is akin to language teaching: making intricate subjects approachable and engaging, irrespective of the user’s background or experience level.
The crux of my teaching was breaking down language barriers and cultural complexities into simpler, more digestible parts. In UX design, this translates into deconstructing the user experience into manageable, inviting steps. My aim has always been to make the experience not just intuitive but also inclusive and engaging for the widest possible audience.
