After the success of my first collaboration with Accendino, the band invited me back to illustrate the LP-length follow-up, Boss Fight DLC—a continuation of their video game-inspired concept.
Their only creative direction: depict the hero facing off with a boss in one of the worlds introduced in the first cover. I imagined a smog-world boss fight— the portal-hopping hero cut off from escape by a sword-wielding, cloaked adversary. The villain’s aristocratic appearance contrasted well with the hero’s salvaged gear, and designing an industrial cityscape with layered rooftops gave me a chance to experiment more with scene depth.
